Cartography can be traced back to drawings of an area. Pictorial maps and map drawing do not lose their artistic appeal despite the standards of the present day cartography. The article analyses images and reflections of historic epochs and events in maps. It presents examples of printed maps by famous. West European cartographers and publishers covering the period from the antiquity to Middle Ages, to Renaissance and more recent times. Most of the presented printed maps include the territory of Lithuania or represent works by Lithuanian authors. [...]. |
