Building construction is named one of the largest non-renewable natural resource utilization activities around the world. The extraction of natural resources reduces the amount of natural non-renewable natural resources, while simultaneously using resources such as water or fuel, which is needed for the transport of resources. The aim of this work is to investigate the compatibility of buildings and the environment by performing an analysis of the implementation of an apartment building renewal program in Lithuania, identifying the main problems. As part of the certification of buildings, an overview of the impact of Lithuanian housing estates and buildings on the environment, we want to learn as much as possible about the prevailing problems in the construction sector.
