Food industry is one of the oldest and most spreaded industries. Intense global competition, rapid technological change, manufacturing progress, information technology and sophisticated customers force manufacturers to optimize the production process, operations and all possible supply chains that allow quick delivery of high-quality products (Karim & Arif-Uz-Zaman, 2013). One of the optimizing methods is LEAN management method developed by Toyota's car factory. Lean system is a management approach which seeks to strengthen organization in market competition by increasing productivity and reducing costs by eliminating unnecessary actions and process. It is important to mention that every food industry company is concerned to have the highest quality assessment, which is provided by food safety and quality certificates valid both in Lithuania and worldwide which opens the opportunities for the international market. In order for the company to work efficiently in a cooperation with safety and quality control a model for safe, qualified and effective is needed. Aim of Research – to analyze of the scientific literature following with the the analysis of production processes of a particular food industry company that is trying to apply the Lean principles and to provide guidelines for the optimization of the production process. Tasks of the Issue: 1. to reveal the problems of the implementation of Lean principles in the food industry company; 2. To analyze the theoretical solutions of Lean principles of food industry company; 3. To develop a theoretical model of optimization of production based on Lean principles; 4. Do empirical inventory management study and submit proposals for optimizing production; Object of the Issue – implementation of Lean principles at the food company. |
