Abstract [eng] In this project several plasticized cellulose diacetate compositions were formed using different plasticizers and their thermal, mechanical and melt flow properties were investigated. It was found that cellulose diacetate and triacetin compositions showed the best properties and it was concluded that it is the most viable choice for practical injection moulding applications. Mechanical properties of formed compositions were similar to other widely used plastic – polypropylene. A manufacturing plant for biodegrable food packaging was designed. Technological equipment was chosen in accordance to the thin wall injection moulding technology. While designing the manufacturing plant, the ability to produce packaging of various sizes and forms was taken into account. The main economical and financial calculations were made in order to asses the price of biodegrable packaging products and to evaluate the time it takes until production becomes profitable.
