Abstract [eng] Purpose of this Master’s thesis is to research how matrix converter with indirect space vector modulation can compensate reactive power loses in system. For this purpose model in “Matlab Simulink” was constructed. Model consists of three phase power source, power transformer, primary and secondary power transfer lines, matrix converter with active load ant additional reactive power generating devices. To control converter indirect space vector modulation is used where converter is divided in virtual rectifier and inverter parts. In rectifier part phase angle can be controlled to compensate reactive power. After all the research it was find that matrix converter can compensate capacitive and inductive additional devices in the grid. Also converter can compensate more than one device. Reactive power ratio between device ant power transformer was measured in compensation mode with different transformer power and radio changes from 0,047 to 0,48 or from 0,2 to 0,47 according to device load type. Also given, characteristics on how THD in input signals changes in reactive power compensation mode.
