Abstract [eng] Purpose of the project – to research object positioning possibilities and accuracy by the GSM technology. Analyzed five localization using GSM technology methods and was selected cell global identification (CGI) method. Method principle is that GSM radio stations are sending cell identification number and timing advance value. In database, it is possible to determinate GSM radio station’s coordinates from cell identification number, while distance from object to station calculating out of timing advance value. Knowing this data object location could be found. Research, which aim to get real cell identification and timing advance values from GSM stations transmitted data, was completed. Since the coordinates of research are known, therefore distance between the object and station was calculated. It was noticed, that a timing advance value is not always relative to real distance from the object to GSM radio station. Also, used equipment has its own positioning algorithm by the GSM technology. Using this equipment function the research coordinates has been obtained. Programs were written, using three different positioning algorithms: crossing lines, Monte Carlo, real center of mass. In research obtained real data were used in simulations. Since the coordinates of research are known, so coordinates deviation calculated from the actual position coordinates. Composed three data samples was statistically compared. It was found that the described algorithms in more than 95 percent cases is more accurate than the equipment algorithm. The most accurate algorithm was based on the Monte Carlo method. However, compared with other methods are under 0.05 significance level. Therefore, for object localization using the GSM technology, it is recommended to further improve the algorithm of Monte Carlo method.
