Abstract [eng] The aim of this thesis is to investigate microgrid of the solar power plant and energy storage system, installed at the KTU campus. Methods of demand side management are discussed. The thesis includes an overview of energy storage system technologies, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as the influence of shading on the amount of the generated energy and the charge of batteries. Analysis of the load curve of the investigated buildings, Chamber IX and e-learning centre of KTU, was carried out. Evaluation of the sun’s illumination value of the surface resulted in the calculation of the amount of expected energy to be generated in the solar power plant. Schedule coverage analysis of the solar power plant and the building complex was performed. Evaluation of the excess solar energy was followed by calculation of the capacity of the collector system. ‘Matlab Simulink’ programming environment was used to develop the model of the analysed system. The joint operation of the solar power plant and the energy storage system was investigated for various times of the year. The modelling environment was used to analyse the impact of weather conditions on the amount of the generated energy as well as analysis of the time intervals necessary to cover the power consumption of a building.
