In the process of power grids development, HVDC technology is attractive because of its wide control options and operating modes to improve electrical power grid stability. HVDC system has specific capabilities, depending on the technology being used. \"VSC\" based HVDC converter technology will be investigated in this work. Converter operating modes, relevant to this work, as well as ensuring flexible electrical grid operating modes are as follows: power flow direction reversal, frequency support, “dead” electrical system start up (also called \"black-start). Converters, working with electrical systems have certain limitations, depending on the electrical system parameters. Electrical system parameters will be investigated on previously mentioned converter operating modes. In this work There will also be investigated converters frequency support function and different off the electrical system start-up situations. |
