Modern beacon technologies were reviewed. After filtering technologies suitable for people tracking, further research was done on these technologies: Wifi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, RFID, NFC, IR and Ultrasonic. Finally, Bluetooth le technology was selected. It was selected because it is already widely spread, not expensive, have integrated beacon protocols and provides working distances up to 50m. In addition, there are methods, which have achieved people localization accuracy up to one meter. New solution of dynamic distance model based on stationary beacon was introduced. Experiments were conducted in laboratory and commercial environments. After research, suggested method did not provide positive results. While performing experiments the list of problems and suggestion for future research was created. |
