Master's thesis analyzes the new method to create a safe living environment for city. CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) is an innovative interdisciplinary method for crime prevention in living environment implemented using environmental design and urban planning tools. Master's thesis aim is to create principal model of CPTED application for creating a safe living environment of city on the basis of theoretical analysis of CPTED design issues and results of empirical research and field investigations; and to examine it‘s application for solving the problems of the object by shoving them in experimental project. CPTED combined with other research methods (M. Purvino ir M. Purvinienės Landscape spatial structure research, Space syntax) for urban spatial structure was applied for the research of different building types of housing estates in Kaunas city, with the aim to assess urban factors and building types that generate crime. During the research unique database with urban data was created. For the data analysis and crime predictions correlation, linear regression, and automatic regression analysis were applied. Housing estate in Kovo 11 street, Kaunas was selected for the further research. It includes sociological survey for determination of residents feeling of safety and CPTED audit for determination of urban design, CPTED and other factors. Research resulted in the development of model of safe residential area by re-planning the existing urban structure and adding design elements. |
