The European Union funds have provided with a huge benefit for both economic and political development of Lithuania after it became a member of the European Union, The European Union funds are supposed to be one of the most efficient financial instrument within the framework of various partnerships and programmes nowadays leading to the decrease of financial and economic gaps among the member states of the European Union. The European Union structural funds are allocated in stages. During the first phase 2004-2006 Lithuania received the EU assistance funds according to the Single Programming Document, whereas in 2007-2013 – they were allocated according to the Lithuanian Strategy for the Use of European Union Structural Assistance and separate actions’ programmes. Currently Lithuania is receiving the EU assistance according to the National General Strategy. |
