Abstract [eng] |
Wages and salaries in a modern society play a very important role in every employee’s life. It is the most important source of personal income, which amount determines the living conditions, the standard and quality of life for the employee and his family members. Low wages and salaries are one of the most important and the most painful economic and social problems not only in Lithuania, but also in the entire world. Efforts made by people, holding different offices, are highly emphasized in the modern society. There are an increasing number of employees who are focused on their personal contribution to the work; therefore, due to these factors it becomes problematic to distribute wages and salaries properly because the classification of strict positions is being refused. In other words, new systems of payment and promotion of every employee are created and developed individually. The question is whether the different amount of wage or salary, paid to every employee individually, does not create favourable conditions for the employer to abuse the employee and to assess his working skills unfairly, on the basis of employer’s personal attitude, assumptions and beliefs, and whether the employer does not discriminate his employee unreasonably. |
