Abstract [eng] The media is increasingly becoming an active participant in the process of citizens‘ information. Citizens receiving a lot of information should be able to rationally evaluate the news of the mass media and to make cautious policy decisions. According to that, the problem of the research is how the mass media can influence the voter's opinion during the election campaign, creating images of politicians. The research object is the politicians‘ image building. The aim of the research is to analyze the politicians‘ image building in the online media during the 2016 Seimas election campaigna. In order to achieve the aim of the research, objectives of the research are those: 1) to analyze the concept, methods and factors of image building, which is one of the elements of political communication process; 2) to analyze how media influence the process of politicians’ image building; 3) to carry out an empirical research of the candidates’ to the Seimas image building in the online media during the 2016 election campaign.
