Abstract [eng] In today's constantly changing conditions, the environment of the Lithuanian education policy system is full of constant changes and challenges. Leadership and employee motivation is a hot topic in the education sector. In the last decade, the policy of the Lithuanian education system has been on the path of leadership formation and implementation. The amplitude of the goals constantly set for the leaders of the educational institution is increasing. Preschool education is recognized as the most important part of skills, competences and quality of education from early childhood. In recent years, it has become more and more difficult to attract young professionals who want to work as preschool teachers, and working teachers feel dissatisfied with their working conditions. The head of a preschool educational institution must be a leader who is capable and knows how to skillfully motivate teachers, retain them, set an example and act in conditions of constant changes. Strategic documents define and ensure the main activities of professional educational leaders, tools, possibilities of using their experience, strengthening of leadership skills through various leadership programs. Thus, the leadership development of leaders of educational organizations aims to solve the problem of shortage, retention and attraction of teachers. Leadership styles of managers, motivation of employees are important research objects, which are quite widely studied in today's context. Despite the fact that a lot of scientific research is conducted on these topics, there is still a lack of knowledge about which leadership styles have the strongest influence on the motivation of teachers in preschool education institutions. The leadership of heads of educational institutions is different and specific compared to the leadership of other public service sectors, so this topic is new and particularly relevant. The research problem is formulated with the question: what influence does the leadership style of the head of the educational institution have on the motivation of teachers? The aim of the project is to investigate the influence of the leadership style of the head of the educational institution on the motivation of teachers in the pre-school educational institutions of Klaipėda City Municipality. Tasks of the project: 1. to theoretically substantiate the influence of the leadership style of the head of the educational institution on the motivation of teachers; 2. to analyze the practices of teacher motivation and the principles of educational leadership in international and national strategic documents, as well as in the international OECD Talis study 3. to empirically determine the influence of the leadership style of the head of the educational institution on the motivation of teachers in preschool education institutions of Klaipėda City Municipality. Research methods applied in the project: 1. analysis of scientific literature sources and documents, used to systematize knowledge about the subject of the work, conceptualizing the phenomena analyzed in the master's thesis; 2. empirical data were collected using the questionnaire survey method, analyzed using statistical analysis methods (descriptive, correlational, regression analysis) using SPSS software, the obtained results were visualized using MS Excel.
