Abstract [eng] |
The relevance of the thesis. Spirituality has become an important topic during the recent years. Foreign scientists have proved long ago the fact that the revenue and profit indicators are much higher in organizations with spirituality values if compared to the ones that operate without spirituality basis. Spirituality at work and job satisfaction are inseparable from each other, and their interaction improves organization results and increases profit indicators and success (Panahi & Abedinpoor, 2013). Managerial practice that is focused on the maximization of value of shareholders rate of interest, as well as short-term and long-term objectives, highlights the importance of physiological, psychological and emotional stability (Thaker, 2009). It is essential for all organizations to finally realize that such value as honesty is more important than the performance of the company, and people are more important than profit. However this does not mean that results and the profit are not important, as it is obvious that they are one of the most important aspects of the organization. Though, if the organization cherishes honesty and its employees, the results and the profit come naturally (Sharma & Jain, 2013). The employee satisfaction also takes a very important place in the organization, which is directly related to the need for spirituality in the organization. As claim the authors of numerous research articles, companies need to implement radical changes and develop a new business model, i.e. spirituality based organization in order to successfully face daily challenges. Lithuanian scientific authors are not prone to analyze the concept of spiritual organization, thus this gap should be filled and the actuality of the topic has to be questioned. For decades, foreign authors explore this critical topic that is important to the society but its scope is so broad and too sophisticated, that it sometimes becomes confusing to investigate the case. However it is very disappointing to note the fact that research on spirituality topics lags behind, as the academic literature on organization spirituality is numerous but not profound (Roof, 2014). Research problem. The research literature analyses the influence of spiritual workplace and its effect on the organization and the employee itself on the theoretical level, but there have been no sufficient empirical research. Scientists are constantly trying to determine the main characteristics of spiritual organization but they have not reached the consensus on this topic, thus when evaluating organization spirituality from the employee perspective it is necessary to develop spiritual organization evaluation model that should serve as the basis for the empirical evaluation of the traditional organizations in the spiritual organization context. The object of the thesis – evaluation of traditional organization as spiritual organization. The aim of the thesis – to evaluate the spiritual organization's dimensions in traditional organization. Goals of the thesis after the research literature analysis: 1. to present a spiritual organization concept and its characteristics; 2. to establish an evaluation model of spiritual organization in the context of traditional organization; 3. to evaluate empirically selected traditional organizations in the context of the spiritual organization on the basis of the theoretical model; 4. to perform a comparative analysis of the analyzed Lithuanian organizations by rating different spirituality levels; 5. to make a provision of insights on the spiritual organization in the context of Lithuanian organizations. |
