In recent decades, digital technologies have become inseparable from our lives, influencing how we communicate, work, and interact with our environment. The action potential offered by digital technology that occurs in the relationship between a digital technology with certain characteristics and a goal-oriented person is called an affordance. Actualizing these digital technologies' affordances is crucial for an organization's success and efficient resource use. This PhD thesis research aims to determine the process of actualizing digital technologies' affordances and the complementarities between digital technologies' affordances in organizations. The research reveals that the universal digital technologies' affordances relevant to many organizations are these: augmentation, analytic, automation, and connect. This study proposes the process model of actualization of digital technologies' affordances in organizations. Also, this empirical study provides insights into how companies should manage digital technologies' affordances within their enterprises and leverage their complementarities to maximize business value. |
