Abstract [eng] The Master's thesis project explores the possible interlinkages between the Regulated List of Construction Products and the Building Materials Ontology ‚<P> Building Materials‘ of the National Construction Information Classification (NCIC). The literature analysis found that the classification of materials and the interlinkages between products are rather narrow, limited to similar physical, chemical or application properties. Still no linkages were found between a wide range of different construction products. An analytical study is carried out in this work. An algorithm for the search of interfaces between material properties has been developed, which is suitable for a wide range of building products, irrespective of their functional use. Different paths of the search algorithm are chosen, depending on the need to identify the materiality of the construction product, the materiality of the construction product in the name and the description of the materiality of the construction product in the standard defining the essential characteristics of the construction product. In each case, the use of the algorithm follows the same sequence of steps and different parts of the algorithm are being applied depending on the information available or found. The proposed algorithm has been tested on a randomly selected list of regulated construction products from different product groups, ranging from products with a clear materiality, e.g. ‚building lime‘, to complex products, e.g. ‚fire alarms‘. The algorythm identified four categories of relationships: direct relationship with one NCIC material, relationship with several NCIC materials, no material relationship found, and no material relationship found, but the standard defining the performance of a construction product emphasises that a change in material affects the performance of the construction product. Relationships with the elements of the NCIC classification '<P> Building Materials' were found in different parts of the classification: with the level 1 class, with the level 2 class, with the term, with the definition and with synonyms. The addition of a synonyms section could be one way of expanding the number of possible relationships with regulated construction products.
