Abstract [eng] |
This research paper explores the potential of flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) in enhancing power grid parameters to facilitate the integration of high-power renewable sources. The study addresses the challenges associated with integrating renewable sources into the grid and examines fundamental network parameters. The key FACTS devices and their functionalities are reviewed. Performance analysis of the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and unified power flow controller (UPFC) is conducted using the Matlab Simulink software package. Furthermore, a static model of a 27-node electricity transmission network is analyzed utilizing the PowerFactory software package. The study investigates the impact of increased generation at the network nodes and determines the maximum power transmission capabilities of the transmission lines. Finally, the paper assesses the potential of the UPFC device to enhance the power transmission capabilities of the grid. |
