Abstract [eng] The goal of biotechnological processes is to maximize the output of target products and the efficiency of the bioprocess. However, the by-products of the bioprocess, known as metabolites, might harm process efficiency. Measuring the amounts of these metabolites is an expensive and time-consuming task. As a result, researchers employ software sensors based on mathematical models that rely on easily gathered data. In this study, we compared two artificial neural network models with two data processing methods for estimating the concentration of acetates produced by E. coli cells during periodic feeding cultivation. We supplied the parameter sets and training structures for these models. We improved the model parameters to discover the optimal parameter settings. We compared these approaches using experimental data and set accuracy criteria.
