Abstract [eng] |
Parents often assume that their kids are not studying because they are lazy. However, it is not that easy. A big factor for bad grades in student's report cards are gaps in knowledge. With the right approach in communication with students it is possible to access the underlying issues which cause students to lose motivation and interest in studying. Family and school often play a big role in studying motivation. Fundamentals of individual’s personality frequently forms in family settings. Schools, on the other hand, create studying climate which forms student's motives. Consiquently, positive thinking and positive emotions have an effect on motivation for studying. M. Prensky [9] suggests using technologies to search for information for assignments, discussions, communication, as well as, playing games, using modern technologies and interactive technologies to study more efficiently while letting students express themselves. These technologies not only enrich studying but also has a positive impact on student's results, enables and broadens the range of studies, creates a possibility for students to choose time and place for studying, makes the process of studying become more interesting and engaging, lets the students express themselves and become creators. By engaging a student like that, these technologies create an opportunity for them to use virtual reality, as well as, use technologies to their own advantage. That's why these modern technologies help bettering the class microclimate and the process of studying itself. They help studying institutions become more flexible and adapt to every student's different needs. It better engages the students in studying and helps interest students in the studies, increases concentration. These technologies also help create, communicate and work as a team. They allow games become part of active learning and out of the box thinking. Specialized learning programs and apps help students understand and comprehend more in-depth material. Feedback from each student, a group or even a whole class becomes an easier task for everyone involved. Using VMA and intellectual sources students can learn to be more independent independently. The biggest problem that education faces today is that some of our teachers speak an outdated (pre-digital) language and are trying to teach people who speak a different, newer language. The generational gap could be fixed by regular learning and new technology usage. The main point of this project is to create a virtual studying platform where teachers could find needed and important information, teach, as well as, be taught by colleagues, consult each other and to co-operate. The current situation of the development along with the use of digital tools in schools and various virtual learning platforms were analysed, as well as, a study of teachers' needs and the possibilities of developing the platform was conducted in order to achieve this goal. The present wealth of tools and resources has produced a broad range of virtual learning environments; nonetheless, "Moodle" and the content management system "WordPress" were most effective in satisfying requirements. The content management system WordPress was selected after weighing the functional and non-functional criteria for the creation of the virtual learning platform. After the realisation of the virtual learning platform “Savišvieta” project savisvieta.lt, the platform was tested with the leaders and teachers of Šilutės Pamario Progymnasium. In order to find out the effectiveness of the selected technical solutions and learning, a platform evaluation study (qualitative survey) was conducted. Based on the results of the study, improvements were made to the virtual learning platform. |
