Abstract [eng] |
Renewable and local energy sources in district heat production and supply companies can reduce effects of heat production to the environment, human health, reduce Lithuania's dependence on fossil fuel exporting countries and to increase the number of jobs. The main renewable energy source for heat production in Lithuania is wood biofuel. Unfortunately, most of the boilers is burning wood chips and filings. This biofuel, have a higher moisture, ash content, significantly lower calorific value, compared with biofuel pellets. That’s requires greater infrastructure (specially equipped warehouses), additional investment in heat production optimization for better efficiency of the boiler (Staniškis et al, 2010, LDHA, 2010). Such fuel burning considered as inefficient natural resources (wood) usage in some EU countries, such as Germany, Austria, Finland. Therefore, it’s important to apply sustainable production methods, which analyzes the environmental and economic, and social aspects in order to increase the environmental efficiency on district heat production and supply companies. |
