Non-invasive intracranial pressure value meter – is the only device in the world invented for measuring intracranial pressure non-invasively using ultrasound doppler and it does not require special calibration for each individual patient. Only invasive intracranial pressure measurement methods have been used in clinical practice so far, but they are supposed to be expensive and dangerous to human life. Intracranial pressure as a parameter is important for both diagnosing various brain injuries and diseases and choosing individual treatment for each patient. Invasive intracranial pressure measurement method is supposed to be a risky tool in medical practice, therefore the ICP is measured only for patients suffering from severe head traumas. The importance of intracranial pressure parameter can be compared to that of the arterial blood pressure (ABP). It is necessary to find the blood flow in ophthalmic artery correctly from the methodical point of view before the measurement of intracranial pressure in non-invasive way is started. This procedure is performed by an experienced operator and it can last for approximately 15 minutes. In order to eliminate expensive operator’s time, the automatized search subsystem of ophthalmic artery and two versions of the algorithm for the subsystem management have been created. After the studies with healthy volunteers, it has been found that owing to the use of the improved control algorithm, the search for ophthalmic artery has been reduced to 28,25%. Besides, optimal ultrasonic transducer positions set on the eyelid has also been found. According to that set, the new requirements have been formulated for the third version of algorithm for the subsystem management. |
