Lithuania is one of the European Union country’s therefore it is important for Lithuania to have a fast, stable and reliable connections with other European Union countries. However, Lithuania’s railways were built using Russian gauge width, which complicates pace of load transportation to other European countries. The \"Rail Baltica\" project is being developed and implemented, during which a corridor will be built connecting the Berlin - Warsaw - Kaunas - Riga - Tallinn – Helsinki line. This thesis consists of three main sections. The first chapter studies the possibilities of combining the European track with Russian track. The second chapter analyzes the possibilities of creating traffic management schedules using ALSN system. The third section analyzes the capabilities of the ERTMS system which is already installed in Europe railways and indicates whether it is possible to install the ERTMS to Lithuanian railways and what is needed to implement the ERTMS system. |
