Abstract [eng] The aim of the work – to design the multifunctional biomedical research center, that would be based on the analysis of the theoretical literature and practical examples; on the result of the empirical researches and the experimental project. Currently, biomedical research centers are becoming increasingly essential in order not only to invent new medicines but also to explore the effectiveness of the existing, to find the best ways to use it in the practice. Medical professionals, scientists and students in the collaboration would help to put together a practical as well as theoretical knowledge. It would help to achieve better results. Based on this idea, the final master‟s work was to analyze foreign and Lithuanian examples of the biomedical research centers and to solve basic problems of design for this type of buildings. After empirical research and statistical calculations on the basis of the opinion of the architects and medical professionals conclusion has been made - the building has to be functional, strategically located in relation to the transport and urban space. Multifunctional biomedical research center has to be designed with several features, so it would be convenient and useful not only for researchers but also to the public. Secondary function of the building is alternative medicine, allowing people to enjoy sports, rehabilitation, consultation, support. For the experimental project the site was chosen in clinics of Kaunas city; analyzes has been made for this site, pedestrian and transport infrastructure, green zones, cultural heritage, the closest buildings visual and structural influence; addressed the shortage of parking spaces in the territory throughout the clinical problem, taking into consideration the size and the location of the building.
