Abstract [eng] In the master thesis the research on smart home functionality and user interface is being carried out. The goal of the research is to analyze currently existing smart home systems, find out its problematic areas and introduce the suggestions for its control improvement. Also, the thesis aims to design the model of smart home system, test it and carry out the research on the systems used by users as well as the drawbacks of interface. Furthermore, it aims to analyze the results and present the conclusions. During the analysis smart home systems currently existing on the market were being examined. In the work the functions of systems, control units and the drawbacks noticed by the users were described. Based on the knowledge acquired in the analysis part, the requirements for smart home system as well as necessary improvements for the drawbacks of currently existing systems were set up. In the designing part the designing and creation of the smart home user interface is being carried out. In the model of created system, location sensors Beacons and ‘’Raspberry PI’’ computer, into which it is possible to connect smart home systems that maintain the open code, are being used. For the user interface the mobile application, that stands out from others as it is able to present the list of currently existing systems based on the user location, was chosen. In the experimental part the research on the designed mobile application user interface and control is being carried out. The participants of the experiment according to the given scenario have compared the mobile application available on the market with the one that has been created in the practical part. According to the results, designed application is controlled (4,6 second) more rapidly and requires less (1,33 times) steps by the shortest scenario. Also, in this part the results of the research on systems used in Lithuania are presented.
