Abstract [eng] |
The International Business master thesis deals with the analysis of Lithuanian cluster policy from the perspective of the European Union. In the course of the last decades, clusters have become one of the most universal priorities of economic development policy in different countries all over the world as well as an attractive alternative to traditional industrial policy that essentially has failed to serve the purpose. Most countries worldwide, including the European Union Member States, realise the clusters’ significance for economics and national competitive ability. Clusters stimulate economic and social prosperity in a country or region, as their development creates prerequisites for increase of yielding capacity not just of its enterprises but the country and region as well. Clusters are one of the main competitive ability increasing sources for enterprises; therefore establishment and reformation of clusters is a significant challenge for governments, businesses and other organisations, while cluster creation initiatives define new guidelines for economic policy, which in progressive countries is based upon macroeconomic stabilisation, privatisation and liberalisation of markets. |
