Nowadays eye tracking devices and corresponding software is widely used in researches of human attention in many areas. These tools allow to analyze the effectiveness of advertisements and effectiveness of webpages content or investigate the ability of people in maintaining attention on certain objects. The main obstacle in eye tracking is devices accuracy. However, some devices are accurate enough to perform tasks using eye gaze. The interface with computer using eye movements is more natural than the conventional input devices such as keyboard and mouse. In this work we are presenting the smart text entry system, which can be controlled using eye movements. There are some people in the world which cannot or do not want to control computers using keyboard and mouse, although these devices fulfill everyday needs. The built system can be used in places where the conventional keyboards do not fit or there is no possibility to use them. The system allowing users to enter text by gaze would be the alternative for disabled people to enter text for their own. Also this kind of system can be applicable in areas where both arms are busy. The improved version of this software could induce the eye tracking functionality to be added into smart devices. Also this system could induce the decreased number of mechanical buttons on devices. In this work the author is analyzing the created software. The created system has two different text entry modes. |
