Master paper analyzes the problem related to innovation culture establishment in organizations restricted by discipline and strict compliance with the rules and procedures. The aim of research was to diagnose organization innovation culture characteristics and propose development areas in organizational culture. The objective of research is organizational innovation culture in military courses at General Jonas Ţemaitis military academy of Lithuania. Military organization has the same organizational attributes as business and public organizations therefore, the same research methodology can be applied. Research instrument was adopted from “Inokultūra” project during which data were collected from 290 Lithuanian business and public organizations. Military courses at Lithuanian Military Academy were chosen as the main unit for research. Innovation culture of military courses was researched in 11 characteristics, such as strategy, organizational structure, infrastructure, organization activity and monitoring, organizational culture, communication, self-training, support to innovative activity, management potential, co-operation and leadership. The manifestation of all those characteristics was compared to average performance of Lithuanian organizations, retrieved from the previous research. The Survey showed similar results to Lithuanian organizations in five areas: organizational structure, self-training, support to innovative activity, management potential and co-operation. Survey demonstrated deviations from the general sample in five organization innovation culture affecting components, i.e. - organizations strategy, infrastructure, organization activity and monitoring, organizational culture and communication. The research on leadership characteristic showed that situational leadership style is predominantly used in military courses of Military Academy. Transformational leadership style is considered to be the most favorable to innovation stimulation. Therefore leaders should apply transformational leadership style more frequently. |
