Worldwide mergers and acquisitions value in 2015 amounted to 5.3 trillion US dollars. These transactions are among the most popular corporate strategies to create a competitive advantage over their competitors both in domestic and international markets. Mergers and acquisitions have become one of the main way for business expansion. In Master's thesis is discussed mergers and acquisitions concept their impact on the economy. Master's work theme - mergers and acquisitions in the Baltic countries. Master's thesis purpose - to investigate and compare mergers and acquisitions impact on Economy in Baltic countries. Both causality tests and correlation analysis are applied to examine this relationship. According to Granger causality test in Lithuania and Estonia evidence suggests that economic growth Granger causes mergers and acquisitions, but the reverse is not true. The correlation analysis leads to conclude that mergers and acquisition has no impact on economic growth. In sectoral analysis Granger causality and correlation analysis revealed that mergers and acquisitions has no impact on economic growth. In Latvia Granger causality test and correlation analysis revealed, that mergers and acquisitions has positive impact on economic growth. Sectoral analysis showed, that mergers and acquisitions has positive impact on GHIJ sector growth and are statically significant. |
