Abstract [eng] In the context of globalisation mergers and acquisitions (M&As) often become common strategic decision when reaching for company growth. As the main motive behind M&A deals stands expectation of synergies. Two companies will only merge if managers expect that the value and performance of combined entity will be greater than the sum of the separate parts. However, research of literature shows that M&As are not always creating additional value. Purpose of this study is to examine whether the synergistic effect of M&A deals is achieved in short term and long term perspectives also to define the relation between market expectations of synergies and actually achieved post-acquisition performance.
