Abstract [eng] |
The issue of income inequality in the world has been widely discussed since the beginning of economic development. This issue is relevant in today's economic world, showing how the gap between the rich and the poor is widening, even in developed countries. Multiple studies have been carried out in which scientists managed prove that income inequality has an impact on the economy of a country and inhibits its growth. Also, there are authors who claim that income inequality has a positive effect on the economy of a country and does not halt, but actually promotes economic growth. Scientists have been analysing the relationship between income inequality and economic growth for many years, but there is still a lack of accurate research to determine the relationship between them. The aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the relationship between income inequality and economic growth in the countries of the European Union. In order to achieve the set objective, the 4 objectives are set out in the thesis the aim of which is: to find out the issue of the interaction between income inequality and economic growth, to analyse the scientific literature, to discuss income inequality and economic growth as well as their relationship based on the theories of scientists, to create a research methodology, and to assess the relationship between income inequality and economic growth in EU countries from the year 2010 to 2020. |
