Abstract [eng] |
In the last decade bacterial cellulose has been widely researched as a material with wide usage – from biomedicine to the food industry. Due to good physico-mechanical properties, as well as fast and lowcost cultivation process, this type of cellulose has attracted interest in the fashion industry as a biomaterial in line with the principles of the circular economy. In this master research project, the bacterial cellulose film that formed during fermentation process of kombucha drink was coated and mixed with agar. Mechanical and wettability properties of the samples were investigated. Conclusions and recommendations are formed based on the results. An empirical study was made to collect more information about the bacterial cellulose material and to find out Lithuanian consumers' opinions and knowledge about this biomaterial. Based on the literature review, experimental and empirical research, the main requirements for development of sustainable clothing from BC were formed. A collection of prototypes was created and produced. |
