Abstract [eng] |
The professional architecture of Lithuania Minor has been studied only by a few authors and only a little attention has been paid to it by the society and in the media. The built heritage of Lithuania is abundant in the rural and urban settlements of Lithuania Minor, and the buildings, although often abandoned, have retained their architectural values. Many survived buildings is a reminder of the history of Lithuania, but with the acceleration of globalization, the threat of historical oblivion arises. The undeserved oblivion of the professional architecture of Lithuania Minor has a strong negative effect on the urban and landscaping framework of Lithuania Minor — abandoned buildings are attractive neither to residents nor to the tourists; it is difficult to attract businesses to the province. Theoretical research showed that selection of the right function for a historic building, formulation of the appropriate strategy for the site's popularisation, development of tourism, and acceleration of the public education can help historic buildings to survive and be used again. Sociological surveys, conducted during the empirical research, showed that although there is a lack of knowledge in the society about the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of tourism focused on the recognition of professional architecture in Lithuania Minor is one of the fastest ways to revive historical architecture in the province. During the analysis of the planar-spatial structure of the region, it was noticed that the scale of Lithuania Minor is very convenient for the development of tourism by train, on foot, and by bicycle. The experimental project was developed based on the conceptual model. The project consists of 3 parts — the scenario of the tourist infrastructure of Lithuania Minor, the model of the tourist route, and the improvement of the urban structure of the train station settlement. After summarizing all three parts, guidelines of a recommendatory nature are developed, on the basis of which the built heritage of Lithuania Minor could be protected. |
