Abstract [eng] The wounds treatment due to antibiotic-resistant S. aureus bacteria, in hospitals becoming more difficult, mixtures of different antibiotics are used, but treatment is not always successful. The healing properties of silver have long been known, and its various forms are used in medicine. This dissertation presents a unique patented patch applying a diamond like carbon coating with silver nanoparticles (DLC: Ag), developed by researchers at the Institute of Materials Sciences at KTU. The chemical composition, silver concentration, and the particle size distribution correlation were investigated. The oxygen plasma etching effect at different time intervals of DTAD: Ag surface was investigated, antimicrobial effect and the release of silver ions into the aqueous medium properties has been determined. The antimicrobial effect of different concentrations of silver ion-saturated solutions on different strains of S. sureus bacteria was also investigated. Based on all study data, one DLC: Ag coating was elected and used to create the patch. The created uniquely designed patch with DLC: Ag which was sputtered on nylon fabric by unbalanced reactive magnetron, was tested under laboratory conditions, followed by review clinical trials with laboratory animals. A 5-layer patch with DLC:Ag coating inside contained faster and longer antimicrobial effect due to the existing silver ion accumulation layer. The structure of the patch prevented it from adhering to the tissues, a sterile medium was created above the wound - the methicillin-resistant strain of S. aureus was destroyed on the third day of treatment, and the wounds healed 40% faster without side effects.
