Abstract [eng] |
With the growing importance of knowledge in the economy and the development of information and telecommunications technologies, employees are forced to expect more effective organizational strategies for ensuring work-life balance. This means that organizations must solve this issue, because work-life imbalances have negative consequences for the activities of the organization. One way to solve this problem may be to motivate telecommuting. It is important for the leaders of any organization to know the impact of telecommuting on the work-life balance. This issue is becoming particularly relevant at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing many organizations to use telecommuting in their work organization strategies. The object of the final master's project is the impact of telecommuting on the work-life balance. The aim is to determine the impact of telecommuting on the work-life balance. The tasks of the work are to reveal the problems and relevance of the study of the impact of telecommuting on the work-life balance; to develop a conceptual model of the impact of telecommuting on the work-life balance; to substantiate the methodology of empirical research on the impact of telecommuting on work-life balance; to empirically evaluate the impact of telecommuting on work-life balance in the public sector. An analysis of the scientific literature has shown that a few factors impact the work-life balance. One of the important factors is the workplace of the employee, whether the employee works in the organization’s office or remotely. Summarizing the theoretical studies, a conceptual model of the impact of telecommuting on the work-life balance was developed. The model is based on the findings of a theoretical study that telecommuting impact the work-life balance, and factors such as the employee's age, work experience in the last job, the number of children living together, and the organization support impacts the relationship between telecommuting and work-life balance. The model has been empirically tested in the public sector. Telecommuting has been found to have a positive impact on work-life balance. It was found that the more time a week a worker works by telecommuting, the lower the negative impact of work on personal life and the negative impact of personal life on work and the greater the positive impact of work / personal life on each other. This means that telecommuting has a positive impact on the work-life balance. It was also found that work experience in the last job has a positive impact on the relationship between telecommuting and work-life balance. Meanwhile, the age of workers, the organization support and the number of children living together do not impact the relationship between telecommuting and work-life balance. |
