Abstract [eng] |
The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on all walks of life and has hit the education sector hard. Pupils could no longer go to school, teachers had to provide further education, and school principals had to manage the whole situation. Leading an educational institution in a time of crisis is becoming a real challenge for school leaders. School principals had to find a way to ensure continuity of education and community safety, to help educators find appropriate ways to communicate with students and their parents. The object of the work is the evaluation of school leadership. The aim of the work is to investigate the leadership of a school head during a crisis period from the point of view of teachers. In order to achieve the goal of the work, the tasks of the work were set: to reveal the relevance and problems of the school management and evaluation research; to conceptualize the impact of the COVID - 19 pandemic as a crisis on education and school leadership; to carry out an evaluation of the leadership of the general education school principal during the COVID-19 pandemic from the point of view of teachers. The work is based on the analysis of scientific literature and the methods of questionnaire analysis. An analysis of the scientific literature has revealed that school principals are always confronted with various crises in schools, but the crisis caused by COVID-19 was a completely new phase that inevitably left consequences. School leaders faced many new challenges that they had not faced in the past. The challenges posed to school leaders by the COVID-19 crisis include: financial challenges, pedagogical workload challenges, distance management challenges, distance learning and learning challenges. Managers had to accept and adapt to the changes that had come, as the situation caused by the COVID-19 crisis was unprecedented. The decisions made by the principal depended on the activities of the whole school community, and this became a major burden for which one person had to be held accountable. Empirical research has provided insight into how educators value school principal leadership in times of crisis in terms of managerial functions: planning, organization, leadership, and control. The survey data revealed that school leaders did not cope well enough with the COVID-19 crisis. Although there are positive trends in the expression of managerial functions, an analysis of all the data suggests that the COVID-19 period has become a challenging challenge for school principals. The evaluation of the management functions and leadership from the point of view of teachers revealed that without the implementation of the management functions, it becomes difficult to manage the institution properly. |
